Set up payments and get paid
Set up payouts, and read the five states your account can be in.
Arvald takes card payments online. Until your payments account is set up and approved, your booking page cannot accept cards at all, so this is the first thing to do after creating your brand.
Setting it up
Open the brand menu in the top left, choose Brand settings, then Payments & payouts, and choose Set up payouts.
That sends you to our payment processor to enter your business details, identity documents and bank account, and returns you to Arvald when you are done. The processor is Stripe, so that is the name you will see on the page you land on, in the emails it sends you, and on the statement showing what it charged. Arvald never sees or stores your bank details. The processor holds them, and you can go back and change them any time with Manage payouts.
Until card payments are switched on, a banner sits across the top of the dashboard with the same button, so you do not have to go looking for it. It disappears on its own once your account can take cards. If you are a coach on someone else's brand the banner tells you to ask the owner, since only they can set this up.
If the setup link expires before you finish, start again from the same page. You will not lose what you already entered.
The five states
The Payments & payouts page shows one of these. The wording is deliberately honest about what you can and cannot do right now.
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Not set up | Your booking page can't take card payments yet. Set up payments to get paid online. |
| Setup incomplete | You've started setup but haven't finished. Card payments are off until you do. |
| Under review | Your details are being reviewed. Card payments turn on once they are approved. |
| Payouts pending | Your booking page can take card payments. Your payout details are still being verified. |
| Active | Your booking page can take card payments and payouts reach your bank. |
The two in the middle are the ones that confuse people. Under review means your details have been submitted and are being checked, and there is nothing for you to do but wait. Payouts pending means you can already take money, it is just being held until the checks on where to send it are finished.
The button changes to match: Set up payouts, Finish setup, Continue setup, or Manage payouts once you are running.
Until it is active
Your booking page cannot take bookings. A player who tries is turned away rather than shown a broken payment form: the page checks before it offers checkout. Everything booked on your public page is paid by card, so with card payments off there is nothing for that page to do.
You can still run your roster by hand. Open a session and add a player yourself, paid or unpaid, then record what they paid you in cash, by PayID or by bank transfer. None of that goes near the payment processor, so none of it is waiting on your account being approved. If you coach entirely on cash today, you can keep your whole roster and your books in Arvald without ever connecting payouts.
What you do not have until it is active is players booking themselves, which is the thing worth having. So set payments up even if you expect most players to hand you cash: it is what turns your page from a list of sessions into something that fills itself.
Fees
Card processing fees are charged to your own account, not absorbed by Arvald. What reaches your bank is the session price minus the processing fee. The processor's own dashboard, which Manage payouts opens, is the place to see the exact breakdown per charge.
If you are not the owner
Only the brand owner can set up payouts. A coach on someone else's brand sees the status but is told to ask the brand owner to set it up.
