Payments in test mode
Taking a test booking, and why you still set payouts up again for real.
You set payouts up twice, once in each mode
Getting paid is arranged with a payments provider, and that arrangement is made separately for test mode and for real money. So connecting payouts inside test mode does not connect them for your real business, and you will go through Settings → Payments & payouts once more, in live mode, before you can take a real booking.
That is worth knowing before you start, because it is the one step that does not carry over.
Taking a test booking
-
Switch to test mode and connect payouts from Settings → Payments & payouts.
-
Open your test booking page (
/test/o/your-brand) and book one of the sessions. -
Pay with a test card. The usual one is:
4242 4242 4242 4242with any future expiry date, any three-digit security code and any postcode.
-
You land back on the booking page, which tells you the booking is confirmed, and the booking appears in your test calendar.
No money moves at any point, and no real card will work on a test page.
Refunds
Refunding a test payment works exactly like refunding a real one, and is a sensible thing to try once before you have to do it for a real client.
If the pay button does not appear
The booking page can only take cards once payouts are connected in the mode you are in. If your test page says it cannot take bookings, check Settings → Payments & payouts while you are in test mode.
