How locations work
Save each venue once with an address, then pick it when you create a session.
A location is a venue you coach at: a name and an address, written once and reused on every session you run there. They live under Locations in the sidebar.
A location is the place, not the court
This is the distinction the whole feature turns on. Most tennis venues hold several courts, and you often book more than one for a single session. So the venue and the courts are two separate things:
- The location is stable. "Lyne Park Tennis Centre" does not change week to week, so you save it once.
- The court numbers change constantly. This week you have Court 2, next week you have Courts 2, 5 and 6. So you set them on the session, not on the location.
That means you never retype an address, and you never have the same club spelled three different ways across three sessions.
What a location is made of
Name. The venue as you and your players would say it: "Lyne Park Tennis Centre", "Millers Point Tennis Court". Up to 80 characters.
Address. Shown to players on your booking page, under the session. Optional, but worth filling in: it is the difference between a player finding the courts and messaging you from the wrong gate. Write it so someone who has never been there can find it. Up to 200 characters.
You can have up to 20 locations. Archive one you no longer use to make room.
Adding one
Two ways, and they save the same thing:
- Locations, then New location. Best when you are setting up, or you have just picked up a new court for next term.
- While creating a session. The location picker on the When and where step has a Create a new location option. Fill in the name and address there and it is saved to your list, so the next session is a one-click pick.
Using one on a session
On the When and where step you pick the location, then type the courts you booked into Court numbers. That field is free text on purpose, because the real answer is often several courts ("Court 2, 5 and 6") and not always a number ("Court A").
Players see the venue name and your court numbers on the session card, with the address underneath.
Setting a default on a service
A service can name a default location. Sessions you create off that service start with it already selected, which is worth setting when nearly all your private lessons are at the same club.
It is only a default. You can change the location on any individual session without touching the service.
Archiving
Locations are never deleted, they are archived. Archiving hides a location when you are picking one for a session or service.
Archiving does not detach it. Sessions already at that venue keep it, and players still see the address, so archiving can never leave someone with no idea where to turn up for a session they have already paid for. Use Show archived to see them, and restore one anytime.
Editing an address fixes it everywhere
Saving a change to a location applies immediately to every session using it, including sessions that are already booked. This is the point of locations existing: correct a wrong address once and it is right on every session, rather than only on the ones you create afterwards.
