What Arvald is, what it is not, and who is responsible for what when a player books.

These terms cover using Arvald, at arvald.com and the software behind it. Two different people use it and the terms treat them differently: a coach, who has an account and runs their coaching business here, and a player, who books a session with a coach.

The most important thing on this page

The coaching agreement is between the coach and the player. Arvald is not part of it.

The coach decides what they offer, what it costs, when it runs, and what happens if someone cancels. The coach delivers the lesson. If a session is cancelled, moved, or goes badly, that is between the player and the coach, and Arvald is not the counterparty to it.

What Arvald provides is the software they both use: a page to publish sessions on, a way to book, and a record of what was booked and paid.

Payments go to the coach, not to Arvald

The coach is the merchant. When a player pays for a session, the payment is processed on the coach's own account with the payment processor, and the money lands in the coach's balance. It does not pass through an Arvald account.

Arvald takes no percentage of a booking. There is no platform fee on what a player pays, and the card processing fee is the processor's, charged to the coach, not a markup added by Arvald.

The practical consequences, which are easy to get wrong:

The coach's agreement with the payment processor is the coach's own. They accept it directly and complete the processor's identity checks themselves.
Refunds are issued by the coach. Arvald provides the button; the money comes back off the coach's balance.
If a player disputes a charge, it is raised against the coach's account.

Cancellations and refunds

Each session carries the coach's own cancellation policy, and it is shown to the player on the booking form before they pay. That policy is what governs the booking.

Arvald does not enforce a cancellation policy on the coach's behalf, does not decide who is entitled to a refund, and does not mediate a disagreement about one. A player who wants a refund asks the coach.

What Arvald charges a coach

Nothing, today. There is no subscription, no billing, and no way for Arvald to charge a coach anything at all. Using Arvald as a coach currently costs nothing because the machinery to charge for it does not exist yet.

Arvald intends to charge for coach accounts. When that happens the price and terms will be published here first, and no existing coach will be charged without being told beforehand and given the chance to stop. Nothing on this page should be read as a commitment to a permanently free product.

Accounts

Coach signups are currently closed. Anyone can join the waitlist, and accounts are opened by invitation.

A player does not need an account to book. Players can create one afterwards, which puts their bookings across every coach in one place. Signing in uses a code sent by email rather than a password.

You are responsible for what happens under your account. If you think someone else has access to it, tell us at hello@arvald.com.

Your content

A coach's public page content stays the coach's. Photos, biography, session descriptions, prices, policies: all of it belongs to the coach who wrote it.

By publishing it on Arvald, a coach gives Arvald permission to store it and display it, which is what publishing a public booking page requires. That permission ends when the content is removed, except where it is part of a record that has to be kept (see Closing a brand below).

A coach is responsible for having the right to publish what they publish. That includes photographs of other people.

Using Arvald sensibly

Do not use Arvald to break the law, to publish someone else's material without permission, or to take payment for something you are not going to deliver. Do not try to reach other people's data, disrupt the service, or work around its limits. If you use the API, use your own keys and do not share them.

Arvald can suspend or close an account that does these things.

Closing a brand

A coach can close their brand from the dashboard. What that does, exactly:

The brand disappears from the public internet and from the dashboard. Its booking page stops working.
Its bookings, payments and refunds are kept. They are also the players' record of what they paid for and the coach's own accounting, and a coach cannot make that decision on a player's behalf.
The web address is retired permanently and never reissued to anyone else, so old links and confirmations cannot later point at a stranger's page.

A brand cannot be closed while it still has confirmed bookings on sessions in the future. Cancel or complete those first.

There is currently no self-serve way to delete an Arvald account itself, as opposed to closing a brand. See Privacy for what to do instead and what is actually possible.

Availability

Arvald is early software. It is not guaranteed to be available, and there is no uptime commitment here. Things will break sometimes. Sessions, prices and bookings are the coach's records and the coach should be able to reconstruct their business without Arvald if they have to.

Liability

Arvald is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, Arvald is not liable for lost income, lost bookings, or losses arising from the coaching itself, which is the coach's to deliver.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where a guarantee applies and cannot be excluded, Arvald's liability is limited to resupplying the service or paying the cost of having it resupplied, where the law permits that limit.
